Blogging

My South Lane

For the past six years I have had the joy of running my own blog at MySouthLane.com. This blog — conceptualized during a camping trip in the Cascade mountains — is designed to “explore life and the outdoors in South Lane County.” Focusing primarily on the lower Willamette Valley, upper Umpqua Valley, mid-coast and Cascades, I explore places to go and things to see.

The Prevention Reseacher

The Prevention Researcher was a national trade journal focused on promoting successful adolescent development. Unfortunately it was folded in 2013 and its website has since been removed. As associate editor at The Prevention Researcher, I often contributed its blog. While I wrote a variety of posts, from simple announcements about upcoming issues to analyses of current research, I think my favorite blog posts were those titled “Editorial Perspectives” where I tried to give insight into my role as an editor of a trade journal. Luckily, I saved some of my favorite blog posts including one on the progression of research on LGBT youth and another about the shifting focus from “school dropout” to “school completion.”
